Many Muslims in Canada have previously experienced occupation, colonialism, and injustice elsewhere. Islamic History Month presents us with a special opportunity to acknowledge that Muslims are settlers on rightful Indigenous lands. With this knowledge we actively move to build meaningful relationships with Indigenous communities in Canada. We hope to build on the exceptional stories that highlight the unifying initiatives shared between Muslim and Indigenous peoples across Canada, presented here:
