AMES DisPLACEMENT

AMES is a small but powerful organization in the Salish Sea. AMES’ programs take a community-based approach to cultural production and outreach, while  fostering   concrete skills development.  They create  works that prompt critical dialogue, expanding horizons and fostering imaginative visions for change.

DisPLACEment is a media arts production and outreach program that brings Indigenous, migrant + refugee youth together to make + share short videos that challenge biases. They creatively explore changing ideas of ‘home’ and ‘belonging’, while  shining a  light on  systems that lead to displacement.

Using a combination of media, storytelling, creative facilitation and interactive activities, peer-facilitated workshops are  designed to foster intercultural understanding, while inspiring crucial, timely conversations about decolonization to motivate change.
