In 2015, Inuit women mobilized to launch the #DoIMatterNow? Campaign on twitter against the Canadain Prime Minister Stephen Harper. The activists called out Stephen Harper's most controversial policies—including the PM’s policy against wearing veils. With makeshift head scarfs, these activists took pictures decrying the systematic disenfranchisement of Inidgenous people while expressing solidarity with Muslim women, affected by Harper’s policies. It served to build solidarity, while drawing attention to long-standing systemic issues affecting indigenous Canadian women, including the high rates of unresolved kidnappings and murders.
